My food arrived today from ediets.com. I selected to have the prepared meal plan for 5 days a week. I am going to take the weekends off since I doubt I will be home to eat 3 meals a day on Saturday and Sunday.

The food came to me in a large Styrofoam cooler with lots of ice packs. I was impressed with the shipping in general. Ediets.com had UPS send me a tracking number in an email yesterday so I could track my package of food as it was on the way. It arrived at my door while I was at work today around 10:30am.

When I came home, my cooler of food for the next week was waiting for me on my doorstep. I unwrapped the plastic from around the cooler and began pulling my meals out. The cooler was a little damaged, but since I get a new one each week and I am planning to recycle it, it really doesn’t matter much. Ediets.com had my food portions divided by meals. They grouped 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 5 dinners and separately wrapped a small cardboard box of 5 days worth of snacks/deserts. Overall, I was impressed. There was one breakfast that’s plastic carton had a hole in it where it had been cracked, but I put Press ‘N Seal on it before putting it into my freezer, and expect it will fair well.

One thing I really found nice was the print-out that came with my food inside the cooler. They have each day’s food selections printed on it along with the suggested additions to each meal’s dietary needs. They specify what needs to be added to each meal under the listed food (i.e serving of nonfat dairy or a fruit). On the other side of the print-out came possible ideas for the nonfat dairy supplements and ideas for the fruit as well as serving sizes for these suggestions. This all helped my Type-A personality traits, as I immediately used the print-out to group and label each day’s food together into daily stacks for the freezer.

Here’s how everything looks so far:

Based on looks, I would say the the portions look small (which shows me exactly how OFF my portions have been) but the food looks pretty decent. I can easily make out what each food is and the presentation is good. I won’t know about taste until tomorrow. I’ll update with tomorrow’s food tomorrow night with commentary and critique’s on each meal.

Here’s my menu for the next 5 days:

I do have a few meal repeats but it’s not due to a lack of choice on ediets.com’s part. I chose the same meals a few times because they sounded like meals I would like without a doubt. I did not choose things I wasn’t sure about because I didn’t want to end up with food I couldn’t eat and be starving for a day. Hopefully these choice were good ones! Only tomorrow will tell…

I am so happy that you are generally pleased so far with the eDiets Meal Delivery Program. You can actually place your meals in the refrigerator too, where they will last for upto 10 days. This also helps the heating time to go by much faster. One more suggestion, if you have the extra time and do not mind getting a few things dirty, I would really recommend that you warm the meals in a conventional oven instead of the microwave. The food tastes so much better that way. I wish you great success on your diet!

Thanks! Should I just put them in the oven at 350 until they’re hot?

I appreciate your feedback, suggestions and encouragement!
